Happy (late) Valentine's Day!

This past weekend was the most perfect weekend! We got snow Friday afternoon and rehearsal ended up getting cancelled, then we went to Atlanta and had an amazing dinner with Mallory and Rob (homemade tamales, three kinds of salsa, homemade flan, and fresh margaritas) and stayed the night with them, then had an amazing performance at the Georgia Aquarium on Saturday! It was my first time at the Georgia Aquarium and we all got free tickets to look around for performing! This is the stage we got to dance on, with the black silks hanging between the tables in the middle, and an amazing view of whale sharks in the tank in the back. It was a black tie event for million dollar donors to the university, and it was beautiful!

When I got back from Atlanta Saturday night I worked on some prep for our all girls Valentine's day tea party! Friday, before leaving for ATL, I made another batch of Bakerella's cake truffles like the ones I made for Christmas, still red velvet but with white chocolate colored shades of pink!
Then I got to making some cucumber tea sandwiches!
Everything is cuter heart shaped!

I found these adorable cupcake liners at Target!

The cupcakes I ended up deciding to make came from this adorable cupcake calendar. I skipped ahead to November to find a chocolate recipe I liked and it turned out pretty well, although not quite as chocolaty as I would have liked. But the raspberry butter cream turned out really well, and it was a beautiful shade of pink to try out piping flowers for the first time!they turned out pretty well for my first time!

Then Sunday morning Kristina Virginia and Tara came early to help decorate and set things up!

Kristina made adorable place cards for everyone, and Tara put together the centerpiece of wild roses and sunflowers! We had four different tea pots with peppermint, pomegranate, pear, and Darjeeling teas!

everyone wore pink and red and looked adorable with dainty tea cups!

the hostesses!

even my front door got a festive face lift! The hearts made me smile, even after a long hard rehearsal today, I don't think I'll ever take them down! Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's day!

Sundays are...

...for sleeping in
...for going out to brunch
...for cute downtown shopping
...for grocery shopping
...for renting movies
...for cooking dinner
...and are quickly becoming my favorite day of the weekend to do all of these things with best friends

Today at Dynamite everything was half off, so I decided to get some fun new spring things...

Like this fun scarf, it reminds me of peach and raspberry sherbet

and this super soft American Apparel v-neck is the perfect sunny yellow!

This adorable vintage rose tea towel is perfect for our Valentine's party!

I love Dynamite, especially on Sundays so I can go play with Virginia at work!

After shopping for unnecessary cute things and grocery shopping, I cooked dinner, something I wish I had more time during the week to do, but at least on Sundays I can cook a lot and then have leftovers. I found this recipe that looked delicious even for my non veg friends and decided to try it out.

it starts with two of my favorite ingredients, black beans and cilantro... you know this is going somewhere good.then combine brown rice, corn, and green chilies with the black beans and cilantro
and put the mix on a whole wheat tortilla and top with some shredded cheese. I added the cheese instead of the guacamole that's in the recipe because Tara doesn't like avocado, but I think it turned out perfect!
a healthy filling meal to go along with our movie selection for this week

Such a good movie! Rent it, now!
Alright, enough playing, gotta get some rest and remember that I have class in the morning!

Its February!!

And February brings with it some things that I'm really excited about!
1. Our CORE Concert Dance Company show is running the 24th-27th. What we have been working on since AUGUST! and its finally about to be here and gone (excited about dancing and being done...)
2. My mom and sister are coming to watch me dance and visit Athens and I cant wait to show them around my favorite restaurants, shops and fun little places!
3. Valentine's Day! Not for romantic reasons, but for an all girls tea-party we are putting on at my house Sunday morning. (more to come on this later, with tons of pictures of decorations and treats!)

4. All the cute things I have already bought and made for the tea-party (and myself...) including

this adorable valentines apron that I made over the break!

I love digging in my moms button box, you can always find what you need.

I found these old teacups at Goodwill the other day. I want to start a collection of old teacups, drinking out of them makes me feel like dainty! I really want some of these teeny tiny teacup rings, too bad they are sold out :(

Then I found this sweet little teapot at TJMaxx, my favorite place to find steals. So cute for our tea-party!

And finally, I found these tiny treasures at Target! Adorable little place card holders that will probably turn into picture holders on my desk, already make me smile in the morning when checking e-mail.

Hope everyone is as excited for February as I am! Now I just have to survive the workload all my professors are throwing at me in addition to long rehearsals and tech nights for the show!
